Holly has scored well throughout her career but one or two holes have cost her dearly. This year she has worked really hard to keep the big numbers off the card and it is really paying dividend.

Her level par total for the week consisted of 13 birdies and just 1 double bogey (an uncharacteristic miss from very short range), and this earned her a share of 6th place.

Many of Holly's friends from The Bedfordshire Golf Club were out in Turkey on holiday, and she was buoyed by the support. Many reported how sweet her ball striking has become since they last saw her play, and clearly that is showing through in her results.

Holly's performance this week also pushes her up the ISPS Order of Merit to inside the top 20.

Well done Holly!

African dream http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/African-dream/ Mon, 16 Apr 2012 00:00:00 GMT Well what a start to the year. I had to make the tough decision not to go to Australia and China due to lack of funding and instead had to get a part time job over the winter. After a couple of months of cold weather and snow I felt I needed some warmer weather and after looking at all the flight options I decided to go and see my good friend Morgana in South Africa. This turned out to be a great decision, I played and practised golf every day and although I stayed in Johannesburg for most of my visit I got the opportunity to visit Zebula which is a golf resort in the bush. This was an amazing experience as the golf course was fantastic and had buck roaming the fairways, a different set of obstacles to negotiate! After golf one of the days I got to spend 20 minutes with five lion cubs, it was a fantastic experience and something I will never forget! Another thing ticked off the bucket list!

When I returned from South Africa I had 2 weeks to fine tune my game with Paul Ashwell and my fitness with my trainer Jon Wells in preparation for my first event of the year in Morocco in March. My dad decided to come with me as I had been let down at the last minute on the caddying front. It was good to have some company on my bag as I was quite nervous in the lead up to the event. It is always nerve wracking waiting to see if all the hard work you have put in for 3months over winter can be taken onto the course in tournament conditions. After delays and long hours on the course I eventually finished 7 under and came joint 4th. A great result for my first event and a good platform for the rest of the year. My next event is in Archerfield in Scotland at the begining of May and Turkey the week after and I am really excited to get going with the main part of the year.

Thank you to everyone for your continuing support and interest. It's great to know that there are people following my progress. I hope I can share some more good results with you in the near future.

Fabulous Start to 2012 http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/Fabulous-Start-to-2012/ Sun, 25 Mar 2012 00:00:00 GMT Holly has trained and practiced hard over the winter break, and fingers crossed is injury-free.

She was itching to get back on tour, and no wonder with the form she is in. She opened proceedings in her first tournament of the year with 6 birdies in the first 11 holes and a share of the lead. 4 dropped shots in the home stretch left her in a tie for 10th overnight.

Sandstorms disrupted the day's play on Friday, but not Holly's concentration. A very tidy 68, with just one bogey on the card saw her consolidate her position on the leaderboard.

After a one over round on Saturday, Holly had lost a bit of ground to the leaders, but she soon put that right this morning, with birdies on 2, 6 and 9. Scoring was good on the final day of the tournament but 2 more birdies on 12 and 14 put Holly right in the mix.

Her only blemish of the day was a bogey 5 on 18, which left her on a total of 7 under, tied for 4th.

It is double bogeys and worse that wreck a tour player's card, and Holly completed 4 rounds of golf with no such slip ups. Well played Holly!

Holly back in form after break http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/Holly-back-in-form-after-break/ Sun, 09 Oct 2011 00:00:00 GMT While her friends on tour were all trooping over to Ireland to watch our Solheim heroes bring home the trophy, Holly was forced to stay home to see a specialist for her hip injury.

A lot of off-course work and a bit of practice certainly paid dividends as Holly posted two solid rounds of 1 under par each to lie =8th at the cut stage of the Sicilian Ladies Open.

A disrupted start to her final round saw Holly drop 6 shots in the first 7 holes, but she regrouped during the rain delay and hit back with birdies on 10 and 11, rallying to finish 2 over par, and in a tie for 13th place.

Holly is now taking a couple of weeks out focussing on getting back to 100% fitness and working on her game before heading out to India and the Hero Honda Ladies Open, where she recorded her first ever top 10 finish last year.

Holly Qualifies for Ricoh British Open http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/Holly-Qualifies-for-Ricoh-British-Open/ Mon, 25 Jul 2011 00:00:00 GMT Final Qualifying for the Ricoh British Open took place at Panmure Golf Club, close to Carnoustie.

Holly was one of 83 players, professional and amateur, who had travelled from all over the globe to compete for just 18 places in the tournament.

Holly was one of the earlier starters and posted a very steady 1 under par, consisting of 2 birdies and just one bogey, on the par 4 12th. Close to the top of the leaderboard when she finished, Holly had a four hour wait to see whether her score was good enough to get her a coveted place in the LET's major championship.

It was! Holly finished joint 8th and now looks forward to lining up at Carnoustie alongside Jee Young Lee Korea and Beth Allen from the USA.

Good luck Holly, play well!

Holly Records Tour Best Performance http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/Holly-Records-Tour-Best-Performance/ Sun, 05 Jun 2011 00:00:00 GMT Holly recorded her best ever tour finish this week at the Deloittes Ladies Open in the Netherlands.

She stormed into a 3 stroke lead on day 1, with 5 under par round that included no less than 8 birdies. She attributed this to her new putter, taking just 26 putts to complete her round.

This was backed up by a solid 1 under par round on day 2 to put Holly in the final pairing on day 3. Both she and her playing partner struggled, while the rest of the field caught them, but Holly ground out the pars she needed over the last few holes to secure a tie for 2nd place, and her best ever tour finish.

Holly's performance catapults her a massive 89 places up the Henderson Money List, and also puts her 29th in the LET Order Of Merit. Another good result next week could see Holly climb into the top 25, which will give her an automatic place in the Ricoh British Open.

Well done Holly!

The Audi Experience http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/The-Audi-Experience/ Wed, 25 May 2011 00:00:00 GMT Well I am starting my 4th week in a row on tour and what a four weeks it has been! After not playing so good in Turkey and making the cut I moved onto Portugal where I hit the ball amazing, I played really good apart from 4 holes, 2 triples and 2 doubles in 2 rounds will kill anyones score. So a very disappointing missed cut for me but things were on the up. We had an awesome apartment in Portugal, nice big rooms and a private pool with our very own inflatable alligator called Alan! It was hard to say bye but we had to drag ourselves away and take off for Germany.

Germany is one of the best tournaments the Ladies European Tour has, the atmosphere is awesome, the crowds are huge and the cars are fast! I took the Monday off and took a stroll round the shops in Munich, it is a very beautiful place with lots of history. Back to practice on the Tuesday and Wednesday and I was starting to hit the ball quite nicely so I was looking forward to a good week. The first time I played in Germany I missed the cut by 2, the 2nd time I missed by 1 so I was going for 3rd time lucky and it was!! I made the cut on the number and was lucky enough to have my boyfriend caddy for me on the weekend. My boyfriend caddies for Stacy Bregman and his name is Olly (Olly and Holly get the jokes in now!) and as she missed the cut he was kind enough to help me out over the weekend. I played well but unfortunately a lot of my putts didn't drop and I finished 55th, but hey it's money in the bank and every little helps at the minute! In between playing golf we managed to visit Dachau concentration camp which was a very sobering experience and one which I will never forget. We also got to drive the Audi R8 spiders as the tournament was sponsored by Audi and wow what an experience! We were allowed on the autobahn with no speed limit, I managed to get it up to 230km in rush hour, pretty happy with that effort!

So we hopped on another plane and I am now in Slovakia, had a light practice yesterday and 18 holes today. It is on a ski slope and is ridiculously hilly definitely a week where I wish I had a caddy, however on the plus side it's an easy way to get fit! We are forecast thunderstorms all week so we all have our fingers crossed we won't be called in too many times. I will keep updating my progress whenever I have internet, in the mean time. keep swinging well!!

A Thought For the Fans Back Home http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/A-Thought-For-the-Fans-Back-Home/ Fri, 20 May 2011 00:00:00 GMT I've been away from home for a couple of weeks now. With the tournaments so close together, its not practical to fly home between events, so we are all "on the road" now.

In Germany today, there was a 2 hour rain delay, and I was one of a handful of players still to complete their second round. I was right on the cut line with just 3 holes to go when we were called off. With most of the players in, there were no complicated mathematical permutations, it was dead easy: par or better for the last 3 holes and I would be here for the weekend; any dropped shots and I was out.

My friends and family at home tell me they were all glued to....the internet. The live scoring here is great, literally with hole by hole coverage, so everyone was linked in pressing their refresh buttons and willing the holes to pass. Apparently it take AGES to play a hole when you can't watch it live.

Well thanks all for following, and as you see, I managed those 3 pars, so I'm back out early tomorrow.

Fresh start for 2011 http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/Fresh-start-for-2011/ Sat, 23 Apr 2011 00:00:00 GMT Welcome to my first blog of 2011! I am going to try and do a regular blog this year to let everyone know how I am getting on and what life is like on tour. I hope everyone enjoys it and feel free to comment and message me!

First I would like to introduce myself properly, I am 24 years old and live in Bedford in the UK. I have been playing golf since I was 11 and turned pro in 2008. I have had tough first couple of years on tour but I have been improving steadily so I am hoping for a good year this year, as they say 3rd time lucky!

I played in one event earlier this year in Morocco and thoroughly enjoyed it. The men had a European Tour event just down the road from ours at the Kings course, it was inside the palace walls and hadn't been played by anyone for 7months as it is the Kings own personal course!! I was lucky enough to be able to see it before the men played on it and I have never seen a course like it. Not a divot or a pitchmark in sight, the best golf course I have ever laid eyes on. After having a little stroll round that course it was back to hard work for my event. Unfortunately I didn't play great and missed the cut by 2 but it is early in the year and it gave me a lot of feedback on how my game was looking for the rest of the year. Morocco is actually a lovely place, the people were all friendly and the hotel we stayed in was lovely! The only thing I would say if you ever want to go there is watch out for the food!! I wasn't very well when I came home and it took me about a week to recover, not the best start to my next lot of practice and gym work.

I have been back home a couple of weeks and have been working hard at my golf and going to the gym when I can. I have had some exciting news in the last week as I have been signed up to Bunker Mentality/Queen of the Green clothing. It is an exciting and fun new clothing company and I am really excited about representing them for the next year. I am hoping to get some photos of me in their clothing which I will post soon and I will have a link for them on my website.

My next event is in Turkey and I leave on the 1st May. I played there last year and it is a really well run tournament so I am really looking forward to getting out there! I will keep you posted with how it all goes and thanks for reading!

7th Place in Spain pushes Holly to 4th in Access Series http://www.hollyaitchison.com//news/7th-Place-in-Spain-pushes-Holly-to-4th-in-Access-Series/ Sat, 20 Nov 2010 00:00:00 GMT Murcia Ladies OpenFresh from her first top 10 finish on the Ladies European Tour, Holly travelled to La Manga in Spain to take part in the final event of the 2010 LET Access Series Tour.

She began the tournament well finishing her first round with 2 birdies for a one under par 72 and a share of the lead. Weather conditions on day 2 were tougher, and scoring was lower. Holly dug deep to hang on to a 76 and remain in contention in 10th place.

With the winds getting up on the last day, all the competitors struggled, and Holly's 77 was only one shot off the best score of the day. This took her back up to a share of 7th place and earned her 4th place in the final Access Series Order of Merit.
